When Do Kids Stop Believing In Santa?

It would seem that most children have cottoned onto the fact that Santa is NOT real by the time they are seven and three quarters.

It doesn't matter if Mum and Dad go outside and ring bells pretending to be reindeer, put sooty footprints on the floor or glitter on their pillowcase, before they're 8 most children have twigged!

Apparently, back in the innocent 70s, children believed in Santa beyond the age of nine, but a new survey by Disney to mark the launch of Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause has found that today's kids are more streetwise.

However, preserving the myth and keeping kids believing in Santa is a massive industry. Parents with children under the age of 12 will spend upwards of £7m this Christmas taking their children to grottos in a bid to keep the magic going just a little longer. And unbelievably, more than one in five parents go so far as to bribe older siblings not to ruin the Santa myth for their younger brothers and sisters.
