How Should I Use Medicines During Pregnancy?
You should always be careful when taking medicines during pregnancy because they can cross the placenta and harm the baby.

Although it is fairly rare that the baby is harmed, problems are more likely to arise if you take medication during the first trimester. To be safe it is advised to avoid taking any non-essential medicines for mild conditions like hay-fever or colds.

Always discuss with your doctor, midwife or pharmacist if you need to take any medicine while you are pregnant. They can advise you how to take essential medicines during pregnancy in ways that are less likely to harm your baby.
