Cells4Life - The Experts In Umbilical Cord Blood Storage
“As prospective parents, we wanted to give our babies the best gift we could. And as doctors, we knew we could give them something special, something that may one day safeguard their health or even save their lives. We chose to store their umbilical cord blood.”

Dr Jeff Drew, a leading research scientist in molecular biology and Mr Giles Davies, a consultant surgeon, founded Cells4Life to store their own children’s cord blood in 2002 when they realised the only services available at the time didn’t fulfil their own stringent criteria.

Why Cells4Life?

Cells4Life is about giving parents a choice. By making clinical, scientific and evidence-based information available to parents, we hope to allow them to make an informed decision about cord blood storage. We are working very hard to set to standards in testing, processing and assessment of these precious samples. The UK is now one of the leading countries in stem cell research and development; we want to remain at the clinical forefront of this in order to benefit patients.

The only UK company to store whole blood
Unlike other stem cell storage companies, we store the whole blood, not just the stem cells.

Why?
Leading UK transplant services currently use whole blood when treating blood diseases.Work published in international peer reviewed press has shown the superior engraftment of whole blood transplants versus extracted stem cells.Research has indicated that whole blood contains factors other than stem cells that may play a vital role in future medical therapies.

Human Tissue Authority Licensed
We have met the rigorous standards required to achieve full accreditation for our service from the Human Tissue Authority (HTA). This ensures we comply with UK and EU law and international and European standards of Good Laboratory Practice, Good Manufacturing Practice and ISO principles.

The UK’s first
Cells4Life is also the first UK Company to have a National Association of Phlebotomists accredited training course for healthcare professionals. Under new HTA regulations, cord blood can only be collected by formally trained professionals. We are delighted that our training course was implemented prior to these new regulations, which means you can rest assured our staff are fully compliant and able to collect your precious sample.

Although you may not be able to protect your children for the rest of their lives, you can give them the best possible start. By storing their umbilical cord blood with Cells4Life now, you would be giving your child a further assurance for their health which can last a lifetime.
