Ovulation is the point of the menstrual cycle when an egg is released from the ovaries, and it is at this time when you are most fertile. For most women, the menstrual cycle lasts about 28 days and ovulation usually occurs between 10-16 days before the start of your next period. It is at this time that you are most likely to conceive so it's the best time of the month to have sex. This doesn't mean that you can't get pregnant at any other time of the month. It is possible to get pregnant at any point of the menstrual cycle because sperm can survive inside a woman's body for several days.
Some women know when they are ovulating because they notice some of the following physical signs:
Increased vaginal discharge, which may be more clear and watery than usual
Tender breasts
Bloating
Mild abdominal pain
Slightly increased body temperature
Increased sex drive.
